As for us, we've definitely made each other feel pretty terrible. But the gift of time is that we still have some. At least enough to do something different.
All was not tragic. Our children are certainly the better outcomes of our history. But this darker thing we created will continue to grow in the generations to come and we can make a better choice than letting it.
Happiness doesn't come from trying to work everything out or finding answers or reasons for our feelings. Rather, it comes from simply making the next decision.
I chose to forgive all of the bad things. I did not want that weight. But it is equally important to apologize for the ones I caused for you.
Our children deserve to know their parents can still grow into better versions of ourselves. The real question is our ability to do so.
